Let's kick things off with what this site is — and, just as importantly, what it isn't.
The problem RunawayHair solves
If you've ever searched for a hair-loss treatment, you already know the drill. Half the results are clinics selling a transplant. The other half are shops selling a serum. Everyone has an answer, and the answer is always "buy this."
Here's what almost nobody gives you: an honest, side-by-side read on how strong the evidence actually is for each option — from the FDA-approved stuff, to the off-label stuff people quietly use, to the experimental drugs still in trials, to the botanical extracts with a nice story and thin data.
That's the gap. That's the whole reason this exists.
What we actually do
Three things, and only these three:
- Grade every treatment A–D on real evidence. A is FDA-approved with strong trials. D is a mechanism and a hope. We say which is which, out loud, even when it's not what you want to hear. See how we grade in our editorial standards.
- Cite the primary sources. Randomized trials, meta-analyses, ClinicalTrials.gov — linked, so you can check us. If we can't source it, we flag it as unproven.
- Track it honestly, in the open. This site is run by someone personally fighting androgenetic alopecia, who documents his own regimen and results — including the parts that flop. That first-hand experience is the point, not a footnote.
You can start with the Treatment Evidence Map — the interactive tool at the heart of the site.
Who's behind it
RunawayHair is written by Drasko, a fintech product manager with 20+ years of turning messy, high-stakes information into decisions you can trust — who happens to be losing his hair and refused to accept "just try stuff and see." Read his full story on the author page.
Here's the honest disclosure, up front: Drasko is not a doctor. No dermatology degree, no clinic, no white coat. What he brings is professional rigor and lived experience — he reads the studies, grades the evidence without flinching, and shows his work. Everything here is educational, so you can walk into a real clinician's office already knowing the right questions.
What we will never do
- We won't tell you what to take. That's between you and a doctor.
- We won't promise a "cure" or "guaranteed regrowth." Anyone who does is selling something.
- We won't bury a sales pitch inside advice. If there's ever a commercial link, it's labeled as one.
- We won't fake certainty. When the science says "we don't know yet," so do we.
Our bias, stated plainly
We're biased toward evidence over anecdote, honesty over hype, and long-term thinking over quick fixes. Hair loss is slow. Anyone promising a shortcut is either wrong or selling. We'd rather tell you the unglamorous truth and earn your trust than tell you what you want to hear and lose it.
That's RunawayHair. Now go read the evidence.
